It's a decent fill-in for the PS3/Vita owners that won't be getting either of the Trials games, but there are a few bumps in the ride.
The PS3 version is the better looking of the two, with greater track design (including runs through the city, which are enjoyable to watch – especially when you careen off the side of a building), more environmental dangers to avoid and easier-to-navigate menus that don't require touch go-ahead. But the Vita version isn't too shabby, despite minor frame-rate drops that could throw off your performance in later stages. The music's rather generic, as are the repetitive engine noises, but they could've been a lot worse, and, at the very least, hearing your driver mutter to himself after missing a challenge is pretty funny.
Those of you who have yearned for a Trials game – or one along those lines – to arrive on the PS3 and Vita, your time has come with Urban Trial Freestyle. Though the games lack Cross-Buy (and Cross-Play) features, and are a little tough to take when it comes to certain challenges, they're still decent enough imitations of the real Trials deal to give them a spin. Just remember that flipping is a little weightier here – that'll probably go through your head the first time you land on it. Ouch.
