Creat Studios' game is good old-school fun – if you can accept the lack of checkpoints.
The graphics are a bit simpler than most Creat efforts, but that's the idea, with neat 16-bit style graphics melded in with interesting character design (think "angry Lego") and enemies that really pop out of the screen. The lighting effects are rather cool, especially in the way the dungeon starts to come alive the more you venture through it. The sound is rather typical, but the music is likable enough that it won't get on your nerves, and some of the effects are cool. "BEWARE!"
The single player campaign, with enough of your gameplay drive, will last you a few hours. There are also competitive leaderboards, as well as local multiplayer games, including Survival and Domination (arena-based), if you've got friends around. These would've been better online, but, hey, beats nothing.
Creat continues to pump out some great stuff for PSN, and remains one of Sony's best weapons in the ongoing video game war. Though Labyrinth Legends' preposterous difficulty spikes may be too much for some to overcome here, the dungeon crawling has enough retro charm to warrant a look. If you're experienced in Zelda or games of that style, consider your recommendation heightened.
