Early Wii U eshop game is lacking something.

While you’re playing, you can complete challenges to gain more points and to show off more on the online leader board. The score is a one-time play through recording, which keeps track of your score online against the world as well as friends you have registered on your friend list. The game is pretty tough at times and doesn’t hide that fact. You will be finding yourself wondering what the hell happened when your ship explodes for some unknown reason when you felt you shot everything in the level.

Nano has one and two player modes as well as being able to play with just the Game pad, which is still a great feature and one of my favorite Wii U features. Like I was saying with the difficulty, the first infected cell cluster is the easiest and that one is the only one you feel like the game is helping you out on. After the first level, the game gets relatively tougher and tougher. You can collect the 5 bonus letters in each level to gain entry to the bonus stage for more points. That is key for the arcade mode, which is just a highest score as possible mode. There are boss fights at the end of each four-stage cluster and the more upgrades you have, the easier the fight will be. You still have trouble with too much activity going on at one time, which can be a real problem for the game

The problems I have with Nano Assault Neo could just be me nitpicking, such as the action on the screen at one time or the lack of control of what’s going on at one time. The game makes up for it at times with the bonus level as well as the HD graphics and the online leader board. I just feel that it is missing that something that will keep people going back to play it over and over again. It will keep the interest of people at the start of the Wii U lifetime but will be bumped out of the way over time. That’s why I feel a score of a 7/10 is good enough for Nano Assault Neo, good but missing that something.

Score: 7 / 10
