It may not be a puzzle game for everyone, but it certainly lights the Wii U eShop aflame with genius.

Though it's nice to see some games offered on the Wii U eShop on the first day of its release, we couldn't help but feel there could have been more offered from the initial five.  Oh, well, out of these selections, we've got some choices that definitely stand out.  Among them is Little Inferno, the latest from the folks at Tomorrow Corporation, made up of members who previously worked on the ingenious puzzle game World of Goo.  Little Inferno sparks with the same sense of personality, even if it is just about burning things.

The game has you playing a child who delights in nothing more than taking their favorite toys and other items around the house and burning them in a magical fireplace.  (Word of warning: you might want to tell your kids not to take their moral lessons from this one.)  There's no scoreboard or any sort of limitation to each stage, you simply burn the stuff, and then unlock new items which will help burn longer or have an effect that changes objects within the stage, ranging from a gravity-shifting moon to a credit card that explodes in bought assets.

Along the way, however, you'll tackle interesting little challenges, such as burning two or three items specifically, all at once, in order to meet them.  You do this by touching on the screen to ignite the flame, then drop objects around or on it to keep the home fires burning, literally.  As you do so, new challenges will open up, and you'll move onward.

You can tell that Little Inferno has these little World of Goo-like touches surrounding it, between the quirky notes you receive from those who appreciate your burning and the cool little effects that are left behind by certain objects.  For instance, when you burn a video game (preferably a copy of ESPN Sports Connection), the fire actually turns to pixels, which is really quite cool.
