Is a new coat of paint enough to save this fledging racing series? Find out in our review!
The gameplay of Inside Line never reaches the finish line. The familiar roar of a NASCAR event is non-existent in this disappointing racer. While the cars do seem to handle differently, none of the cars are standouts. The best part about the gameplay is the presentation of the in game hub. Inside Line is able to pack tons of information on the screen at once without effecting gameplay. Everything from speed, to the status of your car, to the amount of gas you have is very easy to see without taking your eye off the track. Another postive is your spotter. His advice and suggestions on the current race can prove invaluable. The spotter is responsive and truly in tune to the race, its just dissapointing that the gameplay does match up.
The in game hub provides a lot of information without cluttering the screen.
NASCAR The Game: Inside Line does a few things right and is a definite step in the right direction. The overall presentation of the game is a step in the right direction. The menu hub is nice to look at and the HUB screen during gameplay is useful without being in the way or cluttering the screen. It’s unfortunate that the sound and gameplay leaves a lot to be desired. There are a ton of really good racing games that offering various styles of gameplay. Forza 4 gives the authentic racing feel, Dirt 3 covers rally racing, and series like Midnight Club and Need For Speed provide unparalleled customization and all these would be worth more of your time, and your money, than NASCAR The Game: Inside Line.
