Glitches and a chopped down frame rate take some spring out of this superstar's step.
However, I do have to make note of the game's glitches. NBA 2K13 has already received a patch, but it doesn't quite fix everything. There are times the game has stopped on a loop doing a cut-away to a city view, or been stuck on music and a black screen while trying to watch a crucial gameplay. This has forced restarts for the game – a frustration when you've scored epic points and want to save your performance – and, at one point, we even had to unplug the system and turn it back on completely because we couldn't quite get out of it. 2K Sports needs to fix this. FAST.
NBA 2K13 is hardly what you'd call a waste, as it has enough fundamental features and innovative gameplay to keep you coming back to the rim. But the Wii U version feels like the weakest yet, with its cut-back frame rate and its all-too-noticeable loading problems. If 2K can address most of these, it'll have the peak sports performer on the system. As it stands, it's still worth a look, but it's hardly the same superstar you've played on other consoles. The swagger has faded a bit.
