Rabbids Land For the Wii U Isn't Worth Visiting

Ubisoft's attempt at board game/mini-game madness fails spectacularly.

However, the mini-games are screwed up as well.  Some of them just aren't that entertaining to play, and what's worse, the controls don't operate so well.  That tracking game I talked about?  I pretty much lost every time because the GamePad couldn't detect my drawing skills accurately enough.  Even if you were Van Gogh, you'd probably be laughed at and lose the game.

The selectiveness of mini games is awful to boot.  Some require just one player, while others only take two.  What happened to the good ol' Mario Party days when four players could compete at once?  Was that really out of the question here?  If New Super Mario Bros. U can handle multiplayer (up to five people, no less), then certainly so can something like this.  But, no, it just continues to drag.

The presentation doesn't do Rabbids Land any favors either.  The graphics look like something on par with the original Wii, between fuzzy, confusing board game settings and Rabbids that don't defer much in terms of personality.  Their voices also grate on the nerves, as they scream constantly, for no given reason, and we never really figure out why.  The music is okay, but hardly anything along the lines of, say, Rayman Origins.

There are Trophies to earn throughout the game, as well as some slightly humorous bonus games you can play through again, and movies to unlock.  But…that's about it.  Once you finish with a game of Rabbids Land, you may be unlikely to return.  Ubisoft should've scrapped this while they were ahead and focused their attention on the more brilliant Rayman Legends.  Alas, we have to wait.  Just don't kill your time with this one.  Maybe play Rabbids Go Home instead.

Score: 3 / 10
