Electronic Arts rings in 2013 with another accolade from 2012. This one from AbleGamers, which honored EA Sports FIFA Soccer 13 with its Game of the Year Award.
“We are delighted and honored by how approachable EA has been,” added Barlet. “They really took the principles of our game accessibility guidelines, Includification, to heart. We are starting to see some real fruits of our labors preaching accessibility over the last decade. I'm personally thrilled to see big-name studios listening to our advocacy for the disabled community in the gaming industry.”
The AbleGamers annual award will be presented to EA at a gaming conference later this year. Honorable mentions also went out to 2K Game’s XCOM: Enemy Unknown and indie game Colour Bind.
The AbleGamers Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that runs AbleGamers.com, which provides news and reviews on the accessibility of mainstream video game titles, as well as consultation on assistive technology. As an alternative to Serious Gaming, mainstream video games supply many disabled individuals and veterans with rehabilitation as well as social stimulation in situations where they may be otherwise shut out of society's idea of normal everyday life.
