It's never too late, or too early, to add some cool tech to your collection of gaming toys.
LG Cinema 3D TVs, starting at $679 for the 47-inch
The odds are you’ve seen the Call of Duty: Black Ops II commercials for this new line of LG 3D TVs, which has the official license for Activision and Treyarch’s latest shooter. Playing a 3D game like NBA 2K13 or watching a 3D Blu-ray like The Amazing Spider-Man is kind of like that. LG uses the passive 3D technology, but the screen’s brightness keeps the action coming at you in 1080p. I was able to test the 47-inch model, which also offers Dual Play functionality for split screen gaming by utilizing two left-eye and two right-eye glasses so side-by-side gaming on the couch will result in a full-screen co-op experience. Another nice feature with this line of TVs is the Wii-like remote, which allows for quick navigation through all of the Smart TV functionality, including online access to apps like Netflix and Youtube. I know 3D has plenty of naysayers, and 3D is still developing in the home, but watching a great 3D movie (I prefer those filmed or made in 3D to post-conversion) at home is an awesome experience. And although there aren’t as many new 3D games out there, especially on Xbox 360, 3D adds a fun new dimension to interactivity.
