Nintendo dishes the dirt in Mario Kart 8 Nintendo Direct presentation.
Mario Kart 8 is going to be here before you know it and what better way for Nintendo to crank up the hype than with more information about the game. This could be the game, along with Super Smash Bros, that could be the perfect medicine for the Wii U. To watch the whole Mario Kart 8 Nintendo Direct, you can click here.
“Everyone loves Mario Kart,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “It’s a franchise that brings people together for fun at a family gathering, a frenzied race against friends or just an afternoon break at the office. The numerous new features of Mario Kart8 make this the most ambitious version yet, and one that will have players of all skill levels racing for the checkered flag.”
If you needed a reason to get a Wii U, Mario Kart 8 could be that reason. If you haven’t got one yet, there will be a special Mario Kart bundle coming out soon. May 30th will be the release date for the bundle and that has the game, Deluxe system, red Mario Wii Wheel, and a red Mario Wiimote all for 330 dollars. Another incentive to buy Mario Kart 8 is if you buy it and register it with Club Nintendo before July 31st, you can get a download code for a free Nintendo game. Free game options are: New Super Mario Bros U, Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker HD, or Wii Party U.
Now that housekeeping is out of the way, we can mention the important stuff that will make Mario Kart 8 amazing. You can play online races with up to 12 racers as well as talk smack on the Wii U Game Pad screen/microphone and text smack to them players as well. Players will also be able to create their own tournaments as well as race ghost data from just about anyone, like game developers. Another feature is being able to watch race highlights and upload racers to the Mario Kart TV application and those with Google accounts (pretty much everyone) can upload their race videos right to youtube.
In most Mario Kart games, there are new racers and new items to master. Mario Kart 8 is no different where the likes of Baby Rosalina and Pink Gold Peach join the roster that already has a wide range of drivers. New items like the Super horn, that blows away items and drivers, and the Crazy Eight, a group of 8 items that can be used one at a time, will take some skill to learn just when the right time is to use them. Remember you won’t have to wait long as May 30th will be here before you know it and that’s when the fun really starts!
