It looks like Far Cry 4 has been unofficially confirmed by Ubisoft Shanghai's content director.
A new resume update from one of the members of Ubisoft’s Shanghai studio may have ousted the existence of a new Far Cry game.
According to the LinkedIn profile of Ubisoft Shanghai studio design manager Xavier Plagnal, whose previous accolades include serving as content director of Splinter Cell: Blacklist’s co-op mode and working on both the game adaption of Beowulf as well as an undisclosed Ubisoft RPG, the next Far Cry game has been in development since September, 2013 and Plagnal has been leading the charge as the game’s content director. No further details about the game are known but this new update means Ubisoft might have some big news for Far Cry fans at this year’s E3 convention.
This isn’t Ubisoft Shanghai’s first exposure to the Far Cry franchise since the studio previously helped with Far Cry 3’s development alongside Ubisoft’s Montreal, Red Storm, and Massive studios. Last July, Ubisoft teased that info on the next Far Cry game would be released “soon.” In this case, it looks like “soon” meant “in six or so months.” As with all rumors it's safe to take this news with a grain of salt until we get official confirmation from Ubisoft but a LinkedIn update from the studio's content director seems like a pretty hard lead to ignore.
