The tournament circuit welcomes X and Y to the field.
The Pokemon video game and trading card game Regional championships are underway and participants will play with the new Pokemon games, X and Y. Over the course of the weekends in January, players of the video game and trading card game will be able to compete in these regional competitions. The events are open to the public so all who wish to compete can do so.
Players who wish to compete need to bring their own Pokemon X or Y game as well as their own 3DS or 2DS system. If you want to play in the TCG tournament, all you have to do is bring a legal deck. The TCG tourney is Swiss style so everyone plays in every round until the finals. There will be several side events for everyone to play in. Winners of both tournaments will receive booster packs, trophies, and (this is the kicker) a stipend from the pool of almost $200,000 dollars for a travel allowance. World Championships this year are in Washington D.C. so maybe the winner can stop by the White House after they win and see the President, if he isn’t too busy.
