The first hands-on demo of Tomb Raider at Crystal Dynamics studios in San Francisco.
Following her journey through the cave, Lara barely escapes with her life after killing an unknown pursuer. Once out and on the coast Lara finds she is surrounded by the wreckage and debris of ships dating back several decades. As she walks along the coast she finds a radio and discovers her shipmates are still alive. She also finds a video camera that serves as an interesting plot device. The camera provides a flashback where Lara is talking with her shipmates about a lost culture and this serves to further develop the various characters the player has encountered thus far.
The voice work throughout the game is some of the best I have ever heard. The voice execution conveys tense emotion and feeling in every line. Facial expressions are also done with an excellent amount of detail. In this newest Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics presents to us a Lara Croft that is new, unskilled, and trying to survive while simultaneously evolving and becoming the Tomb Raider we all remember. Crystal Dynamics has produced a cinematic survival horror adventure that I look forward to playing from beginning to end.
