Olympics will be here soon and Mario and Sonic want to make sure they’re ready.
Mario and Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games should be subtitled “era of firsts” with some of the new stuff being added to the newest Mario/Sonic Olympics. For starters, players will be able to play online and compete in events against people from all over the world. This will help the national ranking of your country and to show the rest of the world how much better, or worse, you are in comparison.
It will also be the first time that Snowboard Slopestyle will be an Olympic event, in real life as well as in the Mario and Sonic Olympic universe. Players will be able to use their favorite Mario/Sonic character in the new event as well as old favorites, such as Ice Hockey and dream events that can only take place in the Mario/Sonic Universe.
“Two of the biggest names in video games are teaming up again for another Olympic Games-sized competition,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Everyone in the family will be up off the couch, joining in the fun with all the other Olympic hopefuls.”
Players that are familiar with the game will know that it takes some special controls to play some of the Olympic events and this version is no different. It fact, the addition of the Wii U Game Pad adds even more unique control schemes to the game. If the Game Pad isn’t a steering wheel, it’s being used as a separate screen to shoot targets in the Biathlon. The game will also be sold with a Wii Remote Plus bundle for 60 bucks for those of you who don’t have a Wii Remote Plus yet.
Nintendo has teamed up with “Snowboard Slopestyle” competitor Jamie Anderson to give her a shot at Mario and Sonic At the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The video is on the Nintendo You tube channel and you can watch it here. It’s a good idea to have an actual Snowboarder in an ad campaign to let people know about one of the new events to the game and the Olympic Games.
