Legend of Zelda and Pikmin shorts highlight new batch of cartoon shorts heading to Nintendo Video App.
Nintendo has never been one to shy away from innovations and it appears they’re ready to take the Nintendo Video service for the 3DS to that next level. Nintendo experimented with Kid Icarus themed shorts when Kid Icarus: Uprising was released and now they’re adding quite a few “shows” to the Ninty Video lineup. Two of the shows will be centered around the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and Pikmin, respectively. There will be 5 total so lets get to know the programs a little better.
First up is the The Legend of Zelda: The Misadventures of Link will show a different side of Link, a more comedic side. The series will take place in the environments from the Wind Waker universe, which should be fresh in people’s minds since the Wind Waker HD was just released recently. Pikmin Nature Documentaries will take a “nature show” feel to the Pikmin world. The show will spoof the nature documentary genre with over-the-top narrations.
Now let’s get into the details for the 3 non-Nintendo franchise shows coming to the Nintendo Video. Cartoon creator Pendleton Ward, from Adventure Time With Finn and Jake fame; tell the tale of 4 heroes-for-hire and their adventures in Bravest Warriors. The show first launched on the Cartoon Hangover You tube channel and new episodes will be released on the Nintendo Video app every Friday. The show is produced by Frederator Studios, which knows a thing or two in the animation game. Wildheart Riukiu, from the minds of Meat or Die, combines classic video game graphics with crazy, funny characters. Sounds like it could be similar to Code Monkeys, from G4, but probably would be toned way down in comparison. The last show is called Bee and PuppyCat, from the Cartoon Hangover You tube channel, is created by Natasha Allegri. The show tells the story of not-working 20+ year old Bee who has a “life changing collision” with a creature, PuppyCat.
