Lebron James and Tiger Woods lend their quotes to the history of sports video games on ESPN

ESPN’s award-winning newsmagazine program E:60 chronicles the history of some of the most popular sports video games of all time in the episode airing Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.

First there was Pong. Before Madden NFL, before Sega Hockey, before sports video games became a multi-million dollar business that blurred the lines between real-life athletes and the virtual field of play, before any of that there was a dark screen with two small sticks and a tiny, pixilated ball - Pong. And from that simple idea grew a revolution.

More than 40 years later, sports video games are a global phenomenon with millions of devotees. E:60 takes viewers on a fantastic ride through the evolution of the genre. From the inception of Pong, as recounted by Nolan Bushnell, founder of Atari, through the development of seminal games such as Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out, NHL ’94 and Tecmo Bowl. Superstars who populate the games themselves sit down to explain their appeal - Tiger Woods, Barry Sanders, Bo Jackson, Calvin Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeremy Roenick, Larry Johnson, Tony Hawk, Mike Tyson, LeBron James and more.
