Ackk Studios shows they know what they’re doing when it comes to music.
The extra mile companies go get them more fans. It might be something in the credits or a hidden character. Two Brothers goes that extra mile in the music. “The Witches Brew” theme has a sound that would remind you of cackling or the witches laughing. The sounds goes perfectly with the theme. The Overworld theme reminds me of the classic SNES games but it also reminds me of Mega Man X2. There are certain songs that you hear and instantly know what game/system it’s for. Mega Man X2 is that game for the SNES for me.
The game switched between the Colorful World of the afterlife and the world of the living and the style of music changes like that as well. Different “instruments are played such as trumpets or the witches laughing. I know that isn’t an instrument but it works like an instrument. The feel of distraught/sorrow in the afterlife music really gives you the feeling of “is this it?” “Radio On The Beach” (one of my favorites) sounds/feels like it could be in a flashback of some kind and is just another example of Ackk going all out. The real instruments and again, the slight variation of the main theme makes this sound fantastic.
So many different locations allow for so many different styles of music. If it isn’t the despair of the Afterlife, it’s the desert-esque sounding Egg Harbor or the ominous Graveyard. The Glitch! Boss Battle theme just bleeds Pokemon reference. In the sampler soundtrack, this theme was called Glitch!! (A Wild Dsfighdsufh Appears!) Ackk told me that their favorite tracks were some of the last tracks, such as the “Final Dungeon” and the “Final Battle.” I have to agree with them in having good taste. The Final Battle music is gorgeous to listen to and provides the feel that long journey is about to end. All and all, when Two Brothers is released, it’s going to have some of the best music accompanying it and is a pretty daunting task for Indie developers Ackk Studios but they have passed the test with flying colors.
