ScreenBeam technology streams SHIELD content to your HD TV.
At GameStop Expo in Las Vegas, Actiontec Electronics demonstrated its new ScreenBeam Pro technology on NVIDIA SHIELD to over 5,000 GameStop managers and another 5,000 gamers. ScreenBeam Pro enables SHIELD's high-quality content to be streamed to an HDTV in real-time, allowing users to enjoy the SHIELD experience on their high-definition big screens from the comfort of their couch.
ScreenBeam Pro is a wireless receiver that plugs into an HDTV or projector's HDMI port and communicates with SHIELD using Wi-Fi Certified Miracast. Jay Taylor, director of Strategic Alliances & Business Development at Actiontec, talks about NVIDIA SHIELD and Tegra 4 technology in this exclusive interview.
How has ActionTec worked with NVIDIA on ScreenBeam Pro?
We’ve been working closely with NVIDIA for months. Their engineering teams have optimized the performance of our wireless display receiver with the SHIELD device to deliver a very compelling, low latency, high performance wireless display connection between the screen and our receiver. That allows us to push the content from the screen of the SHIELD directly to your big screen TV with very low latency and a very, very high performance experience.
How does your technology work?
NVIDIA SHIELD devices are based upon the Android Jelly Bean operating system, which supports Mirrorcast. What we do is we create a Wi-Fi direct connection between the SHIELD device and our receiver so you can push the content directly to the big screen TV.
