Fable fans who want to try out the recently announced Fable Legends before it's released can do so through a planned beta testing period.
Lionhead Studios has confirmed that they will be hosting beta testing sessions for their recently announced Xbox One multiplayer title Fable Legends sometime next year.
Microsoft doesn’t have a set release window for Fable Legends yet so it’s tough to speculate when exactly eager players will be able to start signing up for the beta but Lionhead is urging fans to keep a close eye on their website in the coming months for all of the latest news on when beta testing will begin.
Lionhead also took the time to confirm that, aside from the upcoming anniversary remake of the first Fable, Fable Legends is the only Fable game that’s currently in development:
"Fable Legends is the only Fable core game in development, and we have no plans to make a sequel to Fable 3. Lionhead always has additional projects in incubation and experimentation, but Fable Legends is the near-exclusive focus of our studio and its development staff."
Fable Legends will be an online multiplayer-focused title with up to four players crafting their own characters and setting out on various cooperative quests. The twist comes in the form of the “villain” character, a sort of overlord who can dispatch and command various monsters and minions to thwart the four-player party using an overhead RTS interface. The villain can be either an A.I. adversary or another player and more solo-minded adventurers can journey with up to three A.I. companions if no friends are currently available.
