Upcoming horror game The Evil Within may just have an online multiplayer component according to creator Shinji Mikami.
Shinji Mikami, the developer behind the legendary Resident Evil survival-horror franchise, is coming out with a terrifying new game called The Evil Within. In a recent interview, Mikami hinted that The Evil Within may have an online multiplayer component that harkens back to a certain terrifyingly difficult game.
OXM recently interviewed Mikami about The Evil Within which aims to scare players with violent, visceral environments coupled with gameplay that revolves around being hunted by terrifying creatures. When asked whether The Evil Within would have some sort of online multiplayer that would allow one player to affect another player’s world, like in Dark Souls, Mikami’s answer was cryptic yet promising:
“Yeah, maybe in DLC. I guess we can’t really get into details.”
While this doesn’t guarantee that the game will have multiplayer, it is promising to hear that Mikami is at least considering it and that if The Evil Within does have multiplayer, it will be in a form that benefits the core Evil Within experience. No other new details on the game have been revealed as of yet but this tease should tide players over until more info can be found.
