With Gamescom 2013 a week away will the announcement of the next-gen consoles release dates change what you will be buying this holiday season?
Sony in particular has been very quiet since their E3 conference and rightfully so as they let out all the information that they needed to give gamers to choose between their Playstation 4 console and Microsoft’s Xbox One. In contrast, Microsoft has been putting in overtime trying to right the wrongs that gamers had issues with in regards to their new system from small things like batteries included with console to the bigger issues like taking away the Kinect requirement for the console to function and the always online feature. The last remaining issue with the Xbox One among the gaming community seems to be the price, at $499 the Xbox seems to be slightly higher than most gamers want to pay especially considering not all gamers want a Kinect peripheral and with its exclusion as a requirement many gamers are clamoring for Microsoft to announce a $399 version of the Xbox One with out the Kinect at next weeks Gamescom.
So while I find next weeks Gamescom conference to be both Sony and Microsoft’s last chance to lay it all on the line on a very big stage. The big release date announcements won’t really change many gamer’s minds about what console they will be purchasing on launch day 2013.
