Elder Scrolls fans who are planning on picking up an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 can now sign up for the Elder Scrolls Online beta. But according to Bethesda, cross-platform compatibility doesn't appear to be in the cards.

Bethesda’s upcoming Elder Scrolls foray into the MMO world is now officially accepting beta applications for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One testers. However, those who were hoping to play alongside their PC buddies are in for a bit of disappointment.

According to the updated Facebook page for Elder Scrolls Online, the closed beta for the game has already begun for PC players but those wanting to help test the game on Sony’s and Microsoft’s upcoming next-gen consoles can start applying now. Elder Scrolls Online is currently set with a tentative Spring, 2014 release date which means console testers should have a few solid months to help test the game out once the next-gen consoles are released during the holidays.

Bethesda also addresses the “can I play with my friends on other platforms?” question in the Frequently Asked Questions section of Elder Scrolls Online’s support page: "The megaserver technology featured in The Elder Scrolls Online will allow PC (Windows OS) players and Mac players to play together. Xbox One players will play on a specific megaserver with other players using an Xbox One. PlayStation 4 players will have a specific megaserver dedicated to only those players using a PS4."

So if you’ve got a group of friends you want to play with, it looks like you’ll have to decide on whether you want to play on PC/Mac or consoles. No matter which platform you prefer, you can sign up for the beta by visiting the link below.
