DICE has confirmed via Twitter that field specializations will be replacing standard class specializations in Battlefield 4 along with new screenshots and other features.
Other confirmed features will include a melee-counter system that allows a player to counter a melee knife attack made against them from the front if they manage to hit their own melee attack button at the right time. The developers at DICE jokingly said that this feature was implemented to give them a bit of a fighting chance since many Battlefield players seem to enjoy hunting them down whenever they play online.
Changes to the suppression system will ensure that suppression isn’t as big an issue in close-quarters fights and that every available kit will have some sort of suppressing weapon such as a Carbine or an LMG. DICE is also working on a “zoom peek” feature which will allow players to lean out and peek around cover using the zoom button.
Most of these new features can be seen in the trailer above and DICE no-doubt has more reveals in store leading up to Battlefield 4’s October 29 launch.
