Strong launch from Animal Crossing: New Leaf is one of the main reasons the big N still is king of handheld systems.
The Nintendo 3DS continued its stong sales numbers with the release of Animal Crossing: New Leaf and contiuned success from Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. The system sold close to 225,000 units in June and the digital/physical buying has helped Nintendo get things back on track. The way the numbers are, it looks like more and more people are buying games in digital form. Look at Animal Crossing as an example. The game sold 505,000 copies and 20 percent were in digital form. DKCR3D sold 108,000 copies and Luigi’s Mansion:Dark Moon sold 115,000 copies in their second and fourth month on the market respectively.
The ride Nintendo is on will only continue with what they have planned in terms of games being released soon. Mario and Luigi: Dream Team is due out in August and so is Pikmin 3. Pokemon X and Y and The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker HD are coming out in October and those are just the tip of the Nintendo iceburg as there are several more titles Nintendo fans are looking forward to.
