A new collaboration between gaming service Raptr and streaming website Twitch now allows gamers to live-stream for free.
Thanks to a new update to its desktop app and a partnership with Twitch.tv, Raptr is now capable of letting players stream games through their computers without the need for expensive equipment or subscription services.
All that’s required for players to start their live-streaming escapades is a Raptr account and a valid Twitch account (both of which are free). Aspiring streamers can then live-stream their favorite games using the Raptr desktop app’s handy interface which broadcasts the stream directly to the user’s Twitch account. Raptr has also included a handy how-to video with detailed instructions on how to get your first Raptr/Twitch stream up and running.
For those unfamiliar with Raptr, it’s a free gaming service which allows gamers to connect with each other and discuss various games and gaming-related topics. Users can also link their Raptr accounts with various gaming ID’s such as their Xbox Live gamertag, their PSN ID, and their Steam account to track game progress and achievements which in turn can make them eligible for “Raptr-exclusive” rewards such as in-game items, discounts, and even beta access to upcoming games.
