Fans of the cult-hit Fox show can finally venture into the 'Verse themselves, thought not in the way they might have hoped.
For all you Browncoats out there, it’s officially official: Firefly Online exists and will be available roughly a year from now. The not so great news? You’ll have to head over to your friendly neighborhood mobile app store to play it.
Yes folks, Firefly Online will in fact be a mobile game according to developer Quantum Mechanix which has the full support and blessing of Fox, the television network which still holds the Firefly license. The game is set to recreate the thrilling space cowboy vibe of the show by allowing players to customize their own ships, hire a crew, and cause all sorts of trouble in the ‘Verse as they take on and complete various jobs and assignments.
While it may not be exactly the sort of game Firefly fans were holding out for, it’s still way too early to tell whether or not Firefly Online will be able to live up to the show’s subtle popularity. In the meantime, Quantum Mechanix has released a short teaser trailer to commemorate the announcement and more details will no doubt be unveiled in the coming months.
