Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has spoken candidly about the possibility of a sequel for ZombieU.
ZombieU may not have wowed gamers as much as Ubisoft would have liked back when it first debuted as a launch title for Nintendo’s Wii U but that didn’t stop it from garnering a fair amount of critical acclaim. However, despite the game’s popularity, Ubisoft currently has no plans for a sequel and there’s a good chance they never will.
A recent report from GamesIndustry.biz featured Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot and his thoughts on ZombieU. Guillemot mentions how, despite its popularity, ZombieU wasn’t even close to being profitable for the company and that not only are there no plans for the sequel, but that the future of the ZombieU franchise is uncertain at best.
Guillemot’s statement is somewhat contradictory to a tease that was made by ZombiU's creative director Jean-Philippe Caro back in May via Twitter in which he claimed that the prototyping process for a ZombieU sequel had already begun. Caro was quick to clarify via another tweet however that the prototyping process didn’t necessarily guarantee a sequel.
