The Japanese branch of Nintendo's online Club Nintendo service has suffered a series of hacking attempts.

Nintendo has released a report detailing a number of online compromises to the Japanese branch of their Club Nintendo service.

According to Kotaku, Nintendo has been running an internal investigation which began back on July 9 and concluded yesterday, July 4. During the investigation period, just under 24,000 illegitimate logins were made from over 15 million attempts. These illegitimate logins compromised user info such as full names, phone numbers, home addresses, and email addresses.

Fortunatly, much like Ubisoft’s Uplay service which recently suffered a similar compromise, Club Nintendo doesn’t hold user credit card information. Nintendo was also careful to clarify that this security breach only affected the Japanese branch of Club Nintendo, other countries are unaffected. Also like Ubisoft and Uplay, Nintendo is making password changes for Japanese Club Nintendo users mandatory by invalidating all currently set passwords.
