Just to prove that the impossible is in fact possible, the Mac version of XCOM: Enemy Unknown is now available through Valve's digital platform.
That old saying “never say never…” has been proven sound once again as the Mac version of Firaxis’ hit turn-based shooter reboot XCOM: Enemy Unknown is now available for purchase and download via Steam.
The announcement came as a bit of strangely unexpected good news since developer Feral Interactive, a strictly Mac-focused developer that helped with the Mac version of XCOM, had previously stated that it “doesn’t release games on Steam” (because of an internal business decision, not as some sort of spiteful attempt against Valve). However it would seem Feral Interactive has had a change of heart since the Mac version of the game is now available via Steam for its standard price of $40.
Even better, those who already purchased the Steam version of the game for PC can download and play the Mac version free of charge and cross-platform multiplayer is supported between the PC and Mac versions. So if you ever wanted to blast your Mac-using Steam buddies in the face with some good ol’ trusty ray guns, well now you can.
