Ubisoft has revealed some exciting new details for their upcoming online shooter Tom Clancy's The Division.

Ubisoft’s upcoming next-gen MMO-esque open-world shooter made a big splash at this year’s E3 and now the developer has revealed some tantalizing new details about The Division.

First off, unlike many other online shooters, The Division will not have any pre-made classes. Players will be free to assign and level up any skills they wish and skills will be completely interchangeable meaning they’ll be able to re-spec their character on the fly. Getting to switch from a long-range sniper to a thick-of-the-action juggernaut or healing/buffing support character will no-doubt be a welcome boon for most players.

The Division will also feature “second screen support” which will let players join games via mobile devices such as tablets. Joining a game with second screen will put the player in the role of a small drone which can aid the console players in various ways such as providing healing and buffs, debuffing and marking enemies, and even summoning missile strikes. The second screen drone will also have its own fully-fledged progression system.

Lastly, Ubisoft touched on The Division’s seamless multiplayer system which will allow users to form up into online squads and engage in cooperative and/or competitive activities all without ever leaving the game world proper. A “Black Market” economy system will also be present in which players can craft and trade their own items and weapons.

Tom Clancy’s The Division is set to release on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
