The Spanish 9th Games & Interactive Entertainment Conference takes place June 26-28.
With the arrival of the new millennium, Wright launched The Sims. In order to “rate” the quality of building design, he added dwellers, and soon afterwards he realized the potential of those little characters he had created. The Sims was, since its launch in 2000 and for four years, the best selling PC title, only surpassed by its own sequel. The adaptation of the franchise to different formats and platforms has contributed to consolidate its worldwide success, becoming a truly cultural phenomenon.
Wright is also responsible for other recent and equally successful titles such as Spore. Major publications such as Rolling Stone, Time and Entertainment Weekly have included him in various lists as one of the most important men in the United States. Now, the Spanish Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences wants to recognize everything he has done for the global industry by presenting him with this Award of Honor at the Gamelab 2013 ceremony.
Gamelab 2013 will hold its ninth edition from June 26 to June 28 at the Film Library of Catalonia, located in the heart of Barcelona, close to Liceu and Las Ramblas, in a new building opened in February 2012.
Gamelab 2013 is supported by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia through the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, the City Council of Barcelona and FICOD, with the sponsorship of Minijuegos.com, Autodesk, Windows Phone, Arm, Chartboost, and Canada Game Nation Innogames and collaboration from EGCA (European Game Conference Alliance).
