Nintendo looks to be in good hands with their upcoming Wii U and 3DS lineups.
The Nintendo direct that was shown before E3 was meant to wet the whistle of the Nintendo fans and get them ready for the start of E3. Let me just say that it worked perfectly. News related to Pokémon, Mario, DK, and Smash Brothers was enough to get the fans going and then thrown them more curve balls at their presentations later on in the day.
Pokémon X and Y are being released worldwide October 12. During the lead up time to the games, new info could come at any moment, like the Nintendo Direct. A new type was finally revealed as well as new Pokémon. The Fairy type was confirmed and will be strong against Dragon type Pokémon. Sylveon will be a part of the Fairy family. Noivern and Vivillon were revealed to be new Pokémon based off a bat and moth-like bug respectively.
Next we move on to the new Super Mario game that plays like an old favorite. Super Mario 3D World plays just like 3D Land but at the same time has a lot of what made Super Mario Bros. 2 such an interesting game. There are 4 playable characters and each character has his/her own special abilities. Luigi can jump higher than the other and Princess Toadstool can hover. A new power up was revealed during the presentation and that power up is the Cat suit. Mario and pals can transform into cats and climb up walls and attack enemies with claws.
Mario Kart is back and is better than ever with Mario Kart 8. It looks like this version will take all the best features of past games and put them to good use. Bikes from the Wii version are back and so are the different transformations from 3DS version. Well, now you can add hovercrafts and anti-gravity driving to the mix. Players will be able to drive upside down and up walls. The game is due out in the spring of 2014.
