A 1997 PC classic is being brought back to life for a new generation of gamers.
Gaming has seen an influx of reboots of old classics in the last few years. Beloved games and series that have been brought back to life with a new layer of shine. Most of the time, these games are dearly missed by gamers of all sorts. Games that people have been clamoring for.
Devolver Digital is joining the reboot race with a game you might not have known you wanted with Shadow Warrior.
Shadow Warrior was one of the many first person shooters developed by 3D Realms in the late 90's. Known for its hyper violence, its tongue in cheek racial humor, and its varied gameplay elements, Shadow Warrior would be overshadowed by the constant stream of shooters that the era saw.
Devolver Digital saw potential in the IP and teamed up with 3D Realms to bring back the shooter for a new generation.
“The team here at Flying Wild Hog are longtime fans of the original Shadow Warrior with its unique combat innovations and distinct setting not seen in shooters at that time,” said Michal Szustak, Studio Head at Flying Wild Hog. “The classic arcade-style shooter is a genre we genuinely love, so redesigning the world of Shadow Warrior and the character of Lo Wang has been a fantastic project for the team.”
The game is set to release this Fall for PC and in 2014 for next-generation consoles.
P.S. The developers promise that you will "tangle with twin female assassins and slice off demon heads to use as weapons." Also that the title will be super rad.
High level promises that we will wait to see fulfilled later this year.
