An update on the Kickstarter technology hit, Oculus Rift.

Oculus decided to develop their own motion sensor for the Oculus Rift. It would appear that the new motion sensor is going to be faster as well as having a magnetometer built in. The Magnetometer will make sensor information as well as "head tracking" easier. "Building a new motion sensor is a major undertaking. There are plenty of challenges we’re working on, particularly sensor calibration and multi-platform driver development, but we’re confident the new sensor will be worth the engineering effort in the long run and we’re happy with the results thus far" they said

The idea of the control box isn't a new idea but it's a good idea. Having the video, USB, and power lines in one "box" makes things easier for people. Oculus states that this method lowers the weight of the headest. Another great idea the actual concept of the VR headset. From what Oculus shows in the video, it looks very responsive and easy to use.

Oculus would also like to bring the Oculus Developer Center to the forefront. The idea of the center is so developers can have easy access to Oculus and be able to seek help if needed from forums or the Oculus engineers. All developers will be invited to join the Developer Center and start discussing Rift development before the kits begin shipping" Oculus said. Oculus Rift looks like a cool idea that shows their are people who still have ideas and show what hard work can do.
