While Nintendo is still putting the finishing touches on its Nintendo TVii service for Wii U, Amazon Instant Video is now available on the new console for dual screen entertainment.
The Amazon Instant Video app for Nintendo’s Wii U is now live, giving customers even easier access to the more than 140,000 movies and TV episodes available to purchase or rent from the Amazon Instant Video library. In addition, the app gives Amazon Prime customers access to more than 30,000 movies and TV episodes to stream at no additional cost.
The Amazon Instant Video app can be found at no additional charge on the Wii U home screen or in the Nintendo’s Wii U eShop on the game console for customers to easily download and install. The Wii U GamePad controller lets customers use the 6.2-inch touch screen on the GamePad to search and browse for titles, and even playback video on the GamePad screen.
“We’re constantly working to create the best streaming video experience for our customers, and to do that it’s essential to provide access on as many devices as possible,” said Anthony Bay, Vice President of Worldwide Digital Video for Amazon.com. “The Amazon Instant Video app on Wii U gives customers more ways to enjoy video in the comfort of their home. The Second Screen Experience lets customers browse, search and even play movies or TV directly on the GamePad controller. In addition, new features in the app allow kids and parents to easily discover family-friendly programming for all age groups.”
“Nintendo’s Wii U is designed to provide customers with premium entertainment experiences,” said Duncan Orrell-Jones, Senior Vice President, Network Business Division, Nintendo of America. “Bringing Amazon Instant Video content to the console is a seamless addition that further enhances the Nintendo offering with even more video entertainment options.”
