Dawnbreaker!
It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually, it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. This time we're looking at Advent Dawn on Steam!
Advent Dawn is a cross between a graphic novel and a pick your own adventure story. I really liked how the game gives you the option to go back and replay sections from the Flowcharts section of the menu. From here you can see how different scenarios break down or have branching paths. In games like this having the option to replay a section to see more of the story is cool to me. There is also an option that you can set it to have more story elements or go right into the gameplay. I have to say that writing from what I played was pretty good and I was getting into it. I was also getting into the characters as well as their designs!
We play the role of Dr. Atlas where we interact with other people on the island/cave. I don't want to spoil too much of the story but something happens on the island where we have to fight to survive. You'll have options to pick from that will change the story but I mentioned before that you can go into the flowchart section and play the different options.
Advent Dawn is an interesting take on the graphic novel/choose your own adventure stories. With an interesting cast of characters and story, fans of this genre will have to give it a look. I'd like to thank the devs for a review code. Check out the hands-on video below!
