Monkey See, Monkey Kill!

It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually, it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. This time we're looking at Cursed Blood on Steam. Fans of roguelikes like Hades will want to check this one out.

You get to pick one of the four apes, Tsukimaru, Kurotaka, Ryuujin, or Kagemusha. I went with Tsukimaru for my playthrough. You have the option to play with three friends or go solo, like I did. This is a fast-paced roguelite that has a lot of crazy kills and attacks. You'll also have to be mindful of what skills you purchase. What I mean by that is when you get an upgrade/skill you can also be cursed. Sometimes the cursed do nothing, like not letting you sprint. OR they could do things that make the area tricky, like making you slip when you walk on blood. In a game where blood is everywhere, that's a death sentence. I got that one and luckily made it through to the next location. You can also spend currency to heal and get rid of the curse.

I really like the attack combos in this game. You start out with a sword/katana and then find a gun of some-kid. I didn't rely on the gun, but it did come in handy when I needed to take out a ranged enemy. I found the katana to be very quick and my weapon of choice. I usually like being able to attack quickly in these games. The dodge felt smooth. The charged dodge/attacks took a little getting used to, but I figured them out. Blood is the way to kill as well as to heal. You'll be able to find difference vials strewn about and those will heal you. I also really like the character designs in this game. The boss characters are cool ideas and some pretty tough fights. I have played roguelikes like this in the past, but this one might have the quickest pace out of all of them.
