Who knew meat was scary?

It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Views, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. Today, we're checking out The Meating on the Nintendo Switch.

Mega Cat Studios has a knack for making modern games that have a retro charm. The Meating is no different has it would be right at home on an NES. Mega Cat also makes their games for the actual retro system so their games like this could actually be on the NES.

Long story short, we're playing the role of Kon, a Minotaur who wants more excitement in his life. He tried to spice things up on Swapmeat.com, a dating site for bovines, but got more than he bargained for. He matched up with a butcher and I don't have to tell you how that's bad news for a bovine. After being chopped up, all hope is lost for Kon, right? NOPE!

Gyros the Greek God of Meat is going to help Kon. He's going to give Kon a chance to find all his meaty parts that the butcher chopped up. I love that the stage map is a Cow meat chart as that's a nice touch. Kon is a ghost and you can use your trusty headbutt to attack enemies. You also have a hover jump similar to Princess Toadstool in Super Mario Brothers 2. You'll have to find a key in each level and avoid enemy attacks in this puzzle-like game. There were times where there was a slight delay when performing actions like jumping/headbutt but that wasn't too often. There were a few times where it looked like I had plenty of room to stand next to something falling and then get hit by it. The boss at the end of the first world/level was really tough as it took me quite some time to figure out what I was supposed to do to her.

The Meating is an interesting take on the retro-puzzle genre. It wouldn't be a classic like game if they told you how to attack enemies like the Butcher but I would like them anyway. That being said, classic NES fans will have to check this out.
