See what was shown at Pax.

One of the more interesting booths at Pax East this year belonged to Behaviour Studios and their simulation of the outdoors for Dead by Daylight. There was a campfire setting as well as all kinds of debris that you would find in the game while you’re running for your life from the various killers. But why all the fanfare during Pax if there wasn’t something coming down the pipeline? Well, while at Pax East, there was an announcement that a new survivor was coming and that survivor was in fact Ash Williams from the Ash Vs Evil Dead Starz series.

For those who aren’t aware, Dead By Daylight is a survivor game where players are pitted against a killer who in simple terms is trying to kill everything that moves. The Pax East play through was on PC and the controls were pretty straightforward, nothing was over complicated. In the game, it feels like the killer has a major advantage over the survivors in that the killer can see pretty much everything and isn’t trying to hide and get away.

If you’re playing with your friends, you can team up and try to work out a plan for success but if you’re playing with random people, like at a convention, you will have to wing it. Everyone had an everyman for himself mentality during the match but we tried to help each other after two of our teammates died but it was a short match after that. The killer killed our third teammate, I took off for cover but it was too late and the killer found me and killed me.

Fans of the survival horror genre will want to give Dead By Daylight a look if they haven’t already, especially with the new DLC coming. Behaviour stated that they have plans for more DLC and updates in the future so things like Ash Williams are just the tip of the iceberg.
