The Artec group, a leader in manufacturing/developing 3D scanners and face recognition devices, has come up with a month long contest. The “winter fun with Kinect” contest is simple; submit 3D models that are scanned with Kinect, ASUS, Xtion, Primesense sensors or Artec's Eva 3D scanner. The theme for the contest is:”the Winter Season” and will run from Jan. 28th to Feb. 28th. It’s open to anyone and you can enter as many times as you want.

The contest is simple enough to enter. All you have to do is download the free trial version of Artec Studios and scan anything to do with winter. Then, upload it to viewshape.com.  It’s that simple. Their will be a panel judging so be as creative as possible. Cash prizes are awarded to the winners in different categories such as “Judge’s Choice” and “Peoples Choice.” The prizes range from 250$ dollars to 1500$. If you’re going to use Eva, which is Artec’s professional 3D scanner program, you can get the 1500$ dollar first prize, 1000$ for Kinect users.

Artem Yukhin, President of Artec Group, commented: “We are very excited to hold the Winter Fun with Kinect contest. The Artec team has introduced 3D face recognition technology and created a real-time handheld professional 3D scanner. Today, Artec Studio for Kinect takes professional 3D scanning to a new, broader audience of gamers and enthusiasts eager to learn firsthand about 3D scanning.”
