Square Enix is delivering a second straight direct sequel this fall with Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. The game director explains why in this video interview.
In San Francisco, Square Enix unveiled the first gameplay footage of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, which ships this fall for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Game director Motomu Toriyama, who has worked on the franchise since Final Fantasy VII, was on hand to explain why the developer chose to create another direct sequel to the bestselling game franchise in the exclusive video below.
Square Enix also unveiled a new trailer, which showcases Luxerion, the divine city of light. It’s one of the four regions of Nova Chrysalia (previously known as Novus Partus). Also released were new screenshots that reveal a new character, Lumina -- a mysterious girl whose unpredictable nature wreaks havoc everywhere she goes.
