See what the Afterglow headset and controller from PDP have to offer!

During this year’s Electronic and Entertainment Expo, I was lucky enough to check out Performance Designed Products booth as well as some of their products. I was able to check out Amiibo holders as well as controllers and headsets.  Recently I was able to get my hands on an Afterglow Headset and Controller to check out so lets get right into it!

We will begin with the Afterglow controller, which can change colors. You can easily set the color you want by using the analog sticks on the controller. You can use the Afterglow app on the Xbox One to take customization to the next level. You can create profiles for each game you play. You’ll have the ability to save color schemes for each game you play and each profile you have on your system.

With the help of the app, you’ll be able to change your preferences on the fly by how you feel. The controller has “wheel” buttons on the back that you can assign up to six actions, players will have the option to never take their hands off of the controller again. It allows for quick actions and tough controller layouts might be a thing of the past with the Afterglow.

The controller has the same feel of a basic Xbox One controller so it will be a smooth transition to using the Afterglow controller. It has a clear casing to allow for the color scheme to be seen by everyone who uses it. It also has rumble features built into it and you can adjust how much it rumbles and this is another customization feature.

Next up is the Afterglow headset, which comes in quite a few different variations. The LVL 5+ appears to be the top-of-the-line model when it comes to bang-for-your-buck. For starters, the Afterglow headset is very comfortable and doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a helmet like other headsets feel like sometimes. It does cut out outside sound very well so while you’re playing, it will be just you and the game! The headset is pretty light so another reason why you won’t feel like you’re wearing a helmet.

When you’re playing against people that you need to communicate with or talk smack to, you want to be able to hear them. You’ll also want to be able to talk quickly to them and with the microphone that can pivot, you’ll be able to have the microphone anyway you want it and it will be easy to talk into. That way, when you score that touchdown in Madden, your friends or opponents will be able to clearly hear the trash talk you just served them!

The wires won’t get in the way because you can connect it right into the Xbox One’s controller so movement won’t be a problem. Games will sound like you’re watching movies with the enhanced sounds/base drivers. The volume controls are easy to use and access so you won’t have a problem raising/lowering the volume when the music/trash talk gets a little too loud. The Afterglow headset also displays LED colors and with customization being key, you could have the same color Afterglow controller and headset.

It’s these reasons that I’m giving the Afterglow controller and headset a 9/10. I would like to thank Performance Designed Products for the review material.

Score: 9 / 10
