Is this endless runner hybrid worth the download?
We have reviewed many endless runners here at GamerHub TV. Some are unique and most are just carbon copies of previous releases. Robo Quest masqurades as a 2-D side-scrolling shooter. At the end of the day, it is just another endless runner that attempts to add something unique to his repetitive gameplay. At the end, you have a medicore endless runner that is just as frustrating as the others.
Robo Quest follows the story of a robot named Kye. A villainous green creature snatches Kye’s girlfriend and Kye must get her back. He will run, shoot, and fly his way to finding the woman he loves. This is one advantage that Robo Quest has over the competition. It attempts to craft a fun story that gives you a reason to take on this journey with your robotic hero. The story is shallow, but it gives you a reason to play.
The presentation of Robo Quest is simple. There is an annoying ad that pops up every time you log in promoting another game from the developer. These ads are annoying but commonplace for free to play games. The graphics are simple enough to garner an hour of your attention at best.
The gameplay of Robo Quest combines your favorite endless runner (and there are tons to choose from) with a 2-D shooter. Think of Temple Run mixed with Jetpack Joyride. You fire a gun at on coming obstacles such as missiles and other robots. You also gain coins while playing that you can use to upgrade Kye. You can also transform into different vehicles after reaching a special icon.
While all these ideas are cool, we have seen them done before and done better. It almost seems that the developer took three separate games, some super glue, and duct tape and created Robo Quest. Everything that the game does well, there is a original game that does it better. This is not worth the download.
