Fresh take on the Worms franchise coming to multiple platforms later in the year!

Award-winning veteran games developer and international games label Team17 has today announced that it will be bringing its forthcoming Worms W.M.D to boxed retail with distribution partner Sold Out.

Coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC later this year, Worms W.M.D features a fresh, new look, 2D cartoon-inspired worm, as well as gorgeous hand drawn landscapes.

For the first time ever, players will be able to use exciting new vehicles and even enter buildings, which adds new strategic elements of gameplay to the traditional wormy warfare.

Take to the skies and rain down bullets on the worms below using the helicopter, or traverse across the landscape in warfare-ready tanks, which will help you get around faster, protect your worms, and fire a barrage of shots.

Worms W.M.D offers a solid and extensive single player mode with training, campaign and challenge modes. Once you’ve conquered the single player modes, you can compete in crazy multiplayer with local couch co-op and online modes supporting up to 6 players with up to 8 worms each!

CEO of Team17, Debbie Bestwick, said, “After recently celebrating Team17’s 25th anniversary, 2016 marks 21 years for the Worms franchise. Besides making lots of us feel old, we listened to our loyal fans to create what we believe is the definitive Worms experience in W.M.D. Fans will now also be able to pick the game up in boxed form from retailers around the globe”.

“Sold Out has helped Team17 successfully place multiple versions of Worms onto store shelves, and it’s a pleasure to be taking on similar duties with Worms W.M.D. We think long-term fans of the Worms series will appreciate an engine that maximises the fun of Worms classic physics and gameplay. Team17 has truly captured the essence of fantastic titles like Worms World Party and Worms Armageddon to deliver what will be the best-selling version of the Worms experience to date,” added Garry Williams, CEO of Sold Out

Worms W.M.D will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC later this year.
