Get the best seat in the movie theater every time with the iWear Video Headphones

During the Electronics and Entertainment Expo, I was able to stop by the Vuzix booth and check out their product, the iWear Video Headphones. These headphones/headset are wearable not just to play games but to watch movies as well. It might look bulky when you first get to see it but it fits pretty good on your head and it isn’t too heavy either. The best way to describe how it fits is to think how a Police State Trooper has their hat on the top of their head and the visor floats in front of your face.

You’ll be able to play pretty much anything as long as the video comes in HDMI. The iWear will transfer video/content from any Smartphone/TV/Gaming console/Tablet so you’ll be able to throw the headset on and go to town with your favorite game. You could get on the train and watch a movie too! You’ll be able to use the iWear with Xbox and PlayStation as well!

The headset was designed to allow you to put your head back like you were traveling on a plane and wearing it, you can totally see that.  Battery life is 2-3 hours in video mode and over 10 in audio mode so if you’re using it for music, it’s going to last awhile. The 3D, like in most 3D projection systems, doesn’t have long battery life. It’s set to release in the fall for about $500.00

During the demo, I was playing the Expendables 2 and for I was moving my head all over the place, just to see how the transfer would be. The headset actually followed my movements pretty well and it should have, it has quite a lot of Head Tracking tech included in it. It was easy to read the text on screen as well.  There was a lot of action on the screen and the headset wasn’t lagging at all and that was a great sign to see.

I then turned my sights on the movie that was being shown right next to the game and that didn’t disappoint either. I did the same test with my head and the headset past that as well. The only thing I wasn’t too happy with on the movie was the sound quality. It was tough to hear the dialogue that was spoken between the characters but other than that, I was pleased with what I saw. You get the full screen effect when you have the headset on and what I mean by that is it feels like you have the best set in the movie theater every time you put the iWear on. It looks like Vuzix might have a winner on their hands with the iWear Video Headphones!
