Can you say Mario Kart go Karts!
Nintendo has said in the past that they want tol come up with new ways to expand their brand and product. This new announcement might be one that I don’t think anyone saw coming. Nintendo and Universal Studios have agreed to partner up on an idea to bring Nintendo themed rides/attractions to Universal Studios. In a time when the Nintendo name doesn’t have the pull it once did in the gaming universe, bringing Mario and friends to an amusement park could be the best thing for the company!
Nintendo franchises and amusement park rides are a perfect match. The franchises lend themselves to carnival style attractions perfectly. You could have Mario Kart go-karts where you can throw koopa troopa shells at the other drivers. You could have the Island of Giant Pokémon like in the anime, which was a Pokémon theme park. You could also have Donkey Kong mine car roller coasters which would work with The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks as you ride the train.
Universal Studios does great work with their 3D technology and could go the 3D route and do more fantasy style attractions, similar to what is at Universal Studios now! A prime example of what Universal could achieve is the Simpsons ride. The Simpsons ride is a 3D action packed ride in the fantasy-like land of Springfield. The rides need good stories and Nintendo has that down, being able to tell a great story for their characters.
I’m just going to say it: being able to throw a koopa shell or a Poke-ball or even ride a DK mine car would be pretty cool and I’m looking forward to seeing how Nintendo and Universal move forward with this!
