It was bound to happen sooner or later but the Playstation 2 has finally stopped being shipped to retailers in Japan. The system has been going strong since its initial release in the year 2000. These things happen and time takes its toll on even the best systems of our lifetime. The PS2 has sold more than 150 million systems since its release 12 years ago. With the system on its last leg in Japan, one has to wonder what has kept it going this long. With the PS3 being able to play older games, was the allure of the PS2 enough to keep people going back for more. The memories will have to keep people entertained because once the last systems are sold, that’s it. It has been quite a run, hasn’t it?
