Mario Kart driving in style
Mario Kart 8 will be getting some interesting add-ons in the upcoming update to the game that will hit August 27th. The main addition through the update is three new karts that come via downloadable content. The karts aren’t from Mushroom Kingdom Chevy, they come from Mercedes Benz. The three downloadable karts are modern Mercedes-Benz GLA, the 300 SL Roadster from the 1950s and the legendary Silver Arrow of the 1930s. Classic cars sounds like a good idea but only time will tell how good Mario looks driving a modern car rather than a giant sneaker or Wiggler!
The DLC will launch on the 22nd anniversary of Super Mario Kart launching on the Super Nintendo and what better way to celebrate than with the original game being available on the Wii U Virtual Console. News of the Mercedes Cup was announced today as well. The Mercedes Cup is a Mario Kart 8 tournament open to everyone as long as they have the Mercedes-Benz DLC pack.
The updated content doesn’t stop with the downloadables. They include: being able to have the map on the TV, the “next race” option will be the first option and not “watch highlights,” storing the most recent kart customizations, score screen so you know how many coins you’ve earned, and better online stability. Looks like Nintendo heard what the fans were saying and adapted accordingly and I for one like the idea of the on-screen map!
