Battlefront: Hardline and Star Wars: Battlefront highlights EA’s E3 Presser.
Electronic Arts made some news at their E3 press conference today. They brought their A game and why shouldn’t E-“A” bring their A game. Putting that horrible pun aside, lets get right into the news that shows why EA brought said A game.
First up is Battlefield: Hardline. Hardline will be bringing the Battlefield franchise into a new and different direction. Visceral Games, makers of the critically acclaimed Dead Space series, will have the task of bringing the award-winning game into the next generation of the franchise. Players will have to wait just a little bit longer for the release date, which is October 21st. Battlefield Hardline puts players right in the middle of the war on crime in the gritty and glamorous streets of Los Angeles and Miami, allowing gamers to live out their fantasy of being a cop or a criminal. The bigger news regarding Battlefield: Hardline was that starting today; there will be a closed beta version of the game available to Playstation 4 owners as well as on Origin for the PC.
It wasn’t just about Battlefield today as news regarding Mirror’s Edge and Star Wars Battlefront made its way through the press conference as well. Sara Johnson revealed that Mirror’s Edge is moving along as scheduled and she revealed more details in a blog post on the Mirror’s Edge web site. In the post she says that the game is in early development and that she wants the game to have that “new feeling/game experience” to it. She also wants the game to be easy for newcomers to pick up and at the same time reward the skilled/veteran players.
I know you think I forgot about Star Wars: Battlefront but I didn’t. During the press conference DICE’s Niklas Fegraeus, Creative Director on Star Wars Battlefront, shares the passion and attention to detail the team is bringing to Star Wars Battlefrontto the game. In the E3 trailer, Fegraeus shows that they’re trying to be as true to the films as possible and that Star Wars belongs to everyone. They’re trying to create the Star Wars game that every Star Wars fan wants/deserves. To stay as loyal to the films as possible, the team went all over the world to classic Star Wars locations and studied the films. This looks to be shaping up like a game no Star Wars fan will want to pass up.
