Set sail for adventure!
Set out to discover what lies over the wild blue yonder! Yonder The Cloud Catcher Chronicles starts off with you getting shipwrecked and you have to explore the island you wash up on.
You need to find everything from basic supplies to sprites that happen to live on the island. You never know what will be helpful in your adventure. You jump off the cliff and open your umbrella, catch the updraft and float down. Start talking to the townsfolk and they will give you things.
Those things could range from anything from items to clothes to advice. You may even get quests to complete during your time on the island. Think of Animal Crossing only with survival involved. You need to cut things down with the axe, you need to break things with the mallet, you need to catch things with the fishing rod. You can do all those things during your adventure.
There are all kinds of environments and wildlife on the island you washed up on. The island isn’t just fun in the sun. There is an evil fog wrecking havoc on the island. You’ll have to figure out ways to restore the island to its former glory and by the looks of the demo, one of the ways to do that is to find the items needed for a quest. The more you do on the island, the more you will unlock and the more you will discover about the island. You have the ability to customize your character by locating things in the wild. The better the stuff you find in nature, the better you can make your character look.
I made my character look like an aging hipster because you can in games like this. It pays to talk to everyone to find out what’s going through everyone’s mind and see what they could give you. Your neighbor could be the difference between you getting the barn fixed because she finally gave you the pick axe or something to this affect.
There is all kinds of stuff to o in the game such as crafting where you can create new items and trading where you can trade for better items or different items. There are key items and clothes but those are pretty straight forward. The controls are easy enough but the only thing I kept finding myself doing was jumping instead of opening the menu. That was the only issue with the controls. Sprite discovery will need to happen to get rid of the evil fog and when you find one, it will be in a purple cloud/glow in an area. To complete some quests, you may need a sprite or two as part of the requirements to complete it. The game looks gorgeous and fans of exploration games will want to get theirs on July 18 when it comes out for PC and PlayStation 4.
